The 2021 Rams roster may be stacked with superstars — Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, Von Miller, and Odell Beckham, to name a few — but no one is having more of a breakout season than wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
A third-round pick out of Eastern Washington University, Kupp has become a go-to target for Rams quarterback Stafford, recording 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns in 17 regular-season games in 2021. And while the latest season has included a playoff run — with a potential Super Bowl berth looming — Kupp has been able to lean on one person through it all: his wife Anna Kupp.
“Anna, you deserve the world. You love deeply. Without hesitation you sacrifice yourself for your family and friends. And I get the privilege of being the one to cling to you, raise you up, and love you to the best of my ability. To strive every day to make you understand the adoration I have for you, the love I feel for you, and how deeply it goes. All your boys cherish you, and appreciate every little sacrifice you make for our family,” Kupp gushed about Anna on Instagram in February 2021.
From high school sweethearts to beloved NFL couple, here’s a look back at the Kupps’ romance.
The early years
Kupp met Anna, whose maiden name is Croskrey, at a track meet when they were seniors in high school. In a recent feature with ESPN, Kupp recalled how he knew Anna was the one early on.
“I told my mom the day I met her, ‘I’m going to marry this girl,’” the Rams receiver shared.
The couple eventually wed in June 2015.
“We just were so aligned in terms of what our goals were and what we wanted to do moving forward and what we wanted to be about as a couple,” Kupp told ESPN. “And the belief that football was the community, was the place that I was supposed to be, that we were supposed to be, and that’s where God placed us.”
Before the Kupps became husband and wife, the pair had something of a long-distance relationship. Anna was enrolled at the University of Arkansas but later transferred to Eastern Washington, losing almost two years’ worth of credits in the process.
During that time, Anna also supported to couple financially.
“I supported us monetarily through college,” she said to ESPN. “I was working full time so that he didn’t have to worry about that, so that he could focus.”
Anna also watched film with Kupp and would treat his teammates to game-day goodie bags.
Kupp became a member of the Rams in the spring of 2017 with the 69th overall pick. Anna took to Instagram at the time to celebrate the official start of her husband’s NFL career.
“WE ARE RAMS!!” she posted at the time.
Days later, Anna posted a video of herself kissing Kupp as they stood beside his Rams jersey.
Although Kupp spent the first four years of his Rams career with quarterback Jared Goff, in his most recent season in Los Angeles, the receiver has caught passes from Stafford, who was traded from Detroit in early 2021.
Kupp, who signed a three-year, $48 million extension with the Rams in 2020, is used to the crowd cheering his name at SoFi Stadium. But on game days, he’s always feeling the love from Anna and their two young children, sons Cooper, 3, and Cypress, 1.
“Blessings on Blessings on Blessings,” Kupp swooned in a September 2021 Instagram post.
That same month, Anna shared a photo of the couple kissing inside the stadium.
“Most things in life that give me butterflies involve you, baby,” she gushed of Kupp.
The couple will be married seven years in June 2022.
